JOSH BROMLEY

Picture
Josh's athletic journey began at the age of 15 when he started Kickboxing / Muay Thai in Sydney’s Western suburbs. Josh won his first State Title at the age of 16 and went on to win Australian, South Pacific and even a World Title as an amateur.  He then turned professional, winning an Australian Light Weight Title.
After his retirement, Josh still had the passion for competition, but no longer had the hunger to compete in Kickboxing / Muay Thai.
After moving to the Sunshine Coast and achieving the boyhood dream to open his own fitness center, known as CrossFit The Stables, he began to search for new ways to stay fit and active.  Josh’s competitive fire was reignited after completing his very first CF workout and he has not looked back.
Josh competed in his first CF competition after just two months of training, "Clash on the Coast",  and managed a first place finish.  He has competed in the Australian Regionals as an individual for 2 years running and is preparing for his third Australian Regionals next month in Wollongong.
Josh has a passion for hard work and believes that we can all achieve the un-imaginable.  Look out for him at this years Regionals, he is a "fighter" with a hunger for podium finishes!!!  Good Luck Josh.

Bryan Cardeno aka "Fury"

Picture
Bryan first discovered CF while he was still actively training and competing in Mixed Martial Arts in New Zealand.
He was approached by a friend and fellow fighter in June 2009, who was opening the 2nd Affiliate in NZ, to help out with some Mixed Martial Arts classes at his box.
At the time Bryan didn’t really know or understand what CF was and was just happy helping a friend start up his business.
After a month, his mate introduced him to the CF Games Online (The year Commando Steve Willis competed and kicked ass). He thought it looked amazing and really wanted to give it a go… someday.
Still a bit tentative Bryan was convinced and attempted his first “WOD” – Fight Gone Bad!
Like everyone’s first experience with CF, it destroyed him even though he considered himself fit! He enjoyed it, but, was not yet hooked.
The box in which he was teaching from, decided to move on from the Mixed Martial Arts classes to accommodate for more CF so this put a hold on Bryan's CF training at that point.
It wasn’t until December that same year that another friend of Bryan's opened up his own Affiliate, that he really developed a taste for it.
His mate asked him to be his training “buddy” as he was preparing for what was known back then as the “The Sectionals” now recognised as “The Open”. He needed someone to help him push through workouts – Bryan had to get fit and quick. With a top 10 finish in NZ and qualification for 2010 Regionals, his mate did an awesome job. After watching his progress, Bryan really started to get the “bug” and this was the start of his CF Journey.
He moved back to Australia in 2011 with his family, with the intentions of finding a box to train. He was very fortunate to have found one so close to home - CF Alive. Bryan still actively trains at  Alive today.
Without immediate employment, all Bryans days consisted of CF!! He participated in the “Open” and finished 60th in Australasia and qualified for that year’s Regionals. Unfortunately, without a job, he was unable to travel to Sydney to compete.

2011 saw Bryan finish 114th in The Opens. Well short of his goal and therefore missed out on competing at Regionals. He still attended as a spectator and witnessed some amazing athletes in action. Inspired, he came back with a whole new motivation and drive; he sought the assistance of Daniel Mellor (CF Noosa) for his training/programming which will hopefully see him qualify again in 2013.

Francine Pehi aka "Franny"

Picture
In 1988, at age 17, Fran joined the Australian Army and at that point, barely passed the physical entry test! She quickly began to really enjoy the physical training involved and it soon became an important part of her daily life - by choice.

She proudly served her country for almost 12 years, having extensive exposure to combat style training and the camaraderie involved.  The task - to not just get yourself home safely, but more importantly, your mates around you.
This is where Frans physical and mental passion and determination was born.

After Fran's official discharge, she moved around the country attending various local gyms, happy just plodding along with 5-6 sessions per week.  She relocated to the Sunshine Coast in 2007 and again, was happy to sign up at a local gym.  It was at this point the hunger was there to ramp up the intensity in her training so she sought the opinion of her younger brother, a Martial Arts expert, if he trained in anything other than Martial Arts.  He told her of a gym where he had trained in CF.  After a brief explanation of what CF was all about, she immediately knew this is the style of training she was looking for.  To date, Fran has never looked back!

During August 2012, Fran was competing at a local team competition, where she made a simple error whilst completing box jumps and severely broke her arm.  She snapped both the ulna and radius of her left arm, in half!!

After one week in hospital, two intensive surgeries to insert metal plates and screws to rejoin the break, Fran was back at training 6 weeks later.. Her rehabilitation and recovery journey thus far, is truly inspiring.  With a raging fire in her belly, Fran will be competing in the 2013 CF Open with a main focus to qualify for the new Masters Age Category 40-44.

Look out for Fran and watch her come back!!!!  She is a truly inspiring Athlete.
